World Wide Technology Gets the Full Transformation Experience at Cisco House

Bob Olwig, VP of Corporate Business Development at WWT said “World Wide Technology has grown from a small start-up to a world-class organization that’s pushing towards $5 billion in revenue. The company is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri and employs more than 2,000 professionals. We have 14 distribution centers and engineers in practically every city throughout the US, and we own more than 2 million square feet of state-of-the-art warehousing, distribution and integration space strategically located throughout the US.

“Our big claim to fame is that we’re one of Cisco’s largest resellers in the world,” Bob Olwig told me when he recently visited Cisco House during the London Olympics 2012. “We typically focus on core routing technologies and switches from Cisco, but we also sell the company’s advanced technologies and we have a whole line of business dedicated to the data center.”

I asked Bob how visiting Cisco House and taking their business transformation tour had made a difference to his view of Schneider Electric.

“It blew me away!” Bob said. “I didn’t know that a facility like Cisco House existed alongside the London Olympic Park. I was blown away by the effort that Cisco and partners like Schneider Electric had invested in the venue. It really opened my mind to some of the technology that exists. Some of it futuristic and maybe a little bit ‘out there’, but you know how the future can come up on you very fast!”

I asked whether this new awareness of Schneider Electric’s technologies would help WWT to develop new business in the future.

“Historically we’ve been a strong APC partner, but this event and especially the relationship between Schneider Electric and Cisco has really opened my eyes to the broader possibilities and the capabilities that Schneider has. It certainly gives us a lot of new opportunities to explore when I get back to the United States,” said Bob Olwig.

Central to the Cisco House experience is a multi-media business transformation journey which looks at how innovative organizations are transforming their countries, cities and organizations today, as well as the opportunities they can look forward to in the future. As Schneider Electric and companies like Cisco, and its’ other partners in the House, EMC, Intel and SAP, become more integrated, customers can benefit from driving more efficiencies with less risk throughout their enterprises.
